About Jenny
Jenny Ford is an award-winning and bestselling author of fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books. Her writing explores loss, resilience, emotional wellbeing, and the inner worlds we inhabit when life changes unexpectedly. Across genres and ages, her work is grounded in empathy, honesty, and a deep belief in the power of words to connect, comfort, and make meaning.
Jenny’s journey as a writer was shaped by lived experience. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, her life and career took a profound turn. What began as listening, deeply listening to the stories people shared with her during her work in the wellness world gradually opened the door to writing. Over time, personal loss and significant life challenges deepened that relationship with words, transforming writing from creative expression into something essential.
Her debut novel, Prisoner Within, became a bestseller, and her award-winning non-fiction book The Loss of a Child, written following the death of her daughter, is recognised for its emotional depth, courage, and compassion. She has since written several books across fiction and non-fiction, each shaped by the same intention: to honour the human experience with sensitivity, truth, and heart.
Writing has never been just a profession for Jenny it has been a lifeline. That lived relationship with words eventually led to the creation of Write to Release®, a series of expressive writing workbooks, journals, and free resources that support emotional wellbeing, reflection, and resilience, including for those affected by cancer, grief, and loss. The work is not about fixing or diagnosing it is about offering space to write, feel, and gently reconnect with oneself through words.
Alongside her adult books, Jenny is also the creator of a series of magical children’s story colouring books, written to nurture imagination, emotional expression, and a sense of wonder in younger readers. These stories reflect the same values found throughout her work: kindness, curiosity, and the healing power of creativity.
Today, Jenny continues to write with greater spaciousness and clarity returning to her author life not to reinvent herself, but to speak from lived truth and experience. Whether through story, reflection, or guided writing, her hope is that readers of all ages will find comfort, courage, and the quiet reassurance that they are not alone.

If you’re ready to begin your healing journey, Write to Release: The Loss of a Child offers a gentle space to write, remember, and release.
The worst thing that a parent can ever go through is the loss of a child. The pain, the emptiness, the guilt and the sadness that you feel, is like no other. Does it get any easier? Yes, it does. Will your heart ever mend? Yes, it will. But it does take time to heal. Jenny lost her little girl twenty-eight years ago – a long time. But had she healed? Not as much as she thought. That was until she decided to write this book and share her story with the world. “I’m sharing this heartbreaking time of my life to let other parents know that it’s okay to feel the way they do. I want to let people know that talking about their feelings, their sorrow, their worries, their pain – but also their joy, could help them to grieve and be more at peace with themselves and the world around them – just like I have!” – Jenny Ford
